Carlos Tevez is one of the least popular men in the city of Manchester right now, and is one of the few players disliked by fans of both United and City.
This past summer Tevez criticized Manchester as a city, stating that the weather was cold enough and only two restaurants existed as a social attraction. It was hard to sympathize with Tevez for his predicament regarding the city he lived in.

After all, when Tevez left Manchester United in the summer of 2009, he chose to join a team based in…Manchester.

Despite his unpredictable behavior, Tevez had always been able to rely on the support of the Manchester City fans. The blue half of Manchester forgave his indiscretions, as they knew the Argentine’s on-field value would benefit their club.

After refusing to play for the club in their 2-0 UEFA Champions League at Bayern Munich this season, Tevez lost any goodwill he had with the Eastlands support, and alienated himself from his team.

City boss Roberto Mancini responded to the Munich incident by stating that Tevez was “finished” at the club, and the fans had a garbage truck at a recent home game where they could dump their Tevez shirts in the trash and receive a new shirt in return.

No City teammates have come to the defense of Tevez, and the Argentine international has been relegated to training daily with the club’s youth team.

Throughout all of this drama, Tevez has been able to rely on the support of Professional Footballer’s Association (PFA) chief executive Gordon Taylor.

Taylor has defended Tevez from the outset, and initially claimed the incident was a misunderstanding. Taylor even went so far as to say that “the PFA’s opinion, based on all the evidence presented, is that Carlos Tevez never refused to play for the club.”

As lead figure of the PFA, Taylor is renowned for fighting for the individual rights of any given professional player. Indeed most fans think that, like a good defense lawyer, Taylor would defend one of his players to the hilt, even if he believed they were wrong.

Taylor went to bat for Tevez after he was disciplined by his club, and played a part in getting City to halve the fine dished out to the Argentine striker.

It appears now though, that Tevez has even lost the support of the man who is paid to defend the interests of the players in the Premier League.

Just when it seemed his selfish behavior had sunk to its depth, Tevez simply ignored a request by the club to stay in Manchester and earn is huge wages by training. Instead, Tevez skipped off to Argentina and finds himself in trouble yet again.

After his latest stunt, the support received from PFA chief Taylor has cooled significantly. When a professional no longer has the support of his own union leader, it is a dire situation.

“At times people say its my job to defend the indefensible. It’s very difficult to now be in a situation where we put our heads on the block,” Taylor told the Daily Mail. I do feel very disappointed to say the least, coming so soon when I was hoping things could move on.”

“I have to advise him his actions aren’t doing him any good at all," Taylor added.

Now that Tevez does not even have the support of the player’s union, it is certain his time in England is drawing to a close. Not only will he leave Manchester, he will very likely leave the Premier League.

While the Argentine striker will be remembered a one of the better talents to ever grace the league, he will now leave a legacy as one of it’s worst professionals.
