The striker's debut for his new side was pushed back after a shock cancer diagnosis just weeks after signing.

Last year, Sebastien Haller was dealt a huge setback as it was revealed that he had testicular cancer. Just 28 years old, the Ajax striker had just signed for Borussia Dortmund as die Schwarzgelben sought to quickly replace Erling Haaland, who had left for Manchester City that same summer.

A health scan picked up the condition in July, meaning that Haller would have to take a break from football as he underwent treatment. Fortunately for the striker, he has now made a recovery after having to undergo two surgeries plus chemotherapy over the last six months. With the procedures being a success, he was able to return to training earlier this month, and finally set foot on a pitch for the first time during Dortmund's friendly match against Dusseldorf in Marbella, Spain.

Haller, who plays his international football for the Ivory Coast, will be looking forward to being involved in Dortmund's first competitive match, which will take place in just under two weeks' time on January 22nd as they face Augsburg.

Currently, Dortmund sit sixth in the table, having lost their last two matches and are nine points behind serial Bundesliga winners Bayern. It goes without saying that fans will hope that now that he's received a clean bill of health, Haller will be able to hit the ground running to help the team start working their way up the table.
