Mbappé or Messi? PSG's boss makes his pick for World Cup final

The controversial Nasser Al-Khelaifi will be among those inside the stadium to witness the title clash, with two of his players fighting for the trophy.

The game between France and Argentina has given experts around the world a chance to cover a variety of topics, including the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé. The teammates at PSG will have to battle on Sunday for the World Cup title, and their employer with Les Parisiens has stepped up to tell the world who he wants to see lifting the trophy.

Speaking in an interview with former PSG player Jerome Rothen, Nasser Al-Khelaifi admitted that he is having a hard time to choose between "La Pulga" and the French superstar, but even if he would like both of them to win the crown, he ended up choosing Mbappé over Messi.

"If I am rooting for France in the final? Of course! I own a French club, I am a French citizen by adoption, but I also have a player from Argentina, and it will be Messi's last World Cup. Kylian is the only PSG player to reach the World Cup final twice in a row, which is wonderful. I am really looking forward to see the match, it will be a great pleasure for me. I hope France wins it, but Argentina had a great run with Leo, though. If I could, I'd give it to both of them," Al-Khelaifi said.

The exec also spoke about Neymar's situation and how he was truly disappointed after Brazil's exit, especially with all the sacrifices "Ney" did to lead Brazil during their run in the World Cup.

"Honestly I was really sad when they were eliminated. As a fan, I wanted to see that Brazil-Argentina clash, but I felt sorry for him (Neymar), I know everything he did to make it to the tournament. Neymar gave it all, even more than the rest. Even with us, he had a great start of the season, and I hope he can carry that form to the team. It has not been easy for him, I spoke with him and his father and he was truly gutted after their exit," the French team's owner added.

Before the interview came to an end, Al-Khelaifi took a chance to speak about the future of Lionel Messi at PSG, which has been the subject for speculation in the past weeks.

"If both parties want it to happen, then it will be done. We agreed to speak after the World Cup. I have confirmed a thousand times that he is happy with us. He has had a great season. I think he is willing to keep on playing for us,"Al-Khelaifi said about Messi.

PSG's main man spoke in similar terms about Mbappé's future.

"As you may know, Mbappé is under contract with PSG. He is one of the best players in the world, he is a great guy, it is truly magnificent to work with him," Al-Khelaifi concluded.
