The striker had his breakthrough during the FIFA World Cup, and the red and white side seems ready to cash in on their star's future.

One of the big stories of the World Cup included Dutch striker Cody Gakpo, who's fine form during the first games of the Oranje side steered Van Gaal's side to the Quarterfinals. Nevertheless, his success has been seen by PSV Eindhoven as a way to cash in on his form, rather than expecting him to grow into one of the best footballers in the world.

Speaking in a press conference, PSV exec Marcel Brands admitted that, while the team would be open to see their star player leaving, the club is not willing to let him go for pennies, adding that there are only a "handful of clubs" in the world that could face this signing without any monetary issues.

"Only ten to twelve clubs can pay what Cody Gakpo is worth. If it ends up happening, we have to be talking about a record transfer for PSV and with the adequate bid for Cody's plans," Brands stated.

The player's form reportedly earned interest from teams such as Manchester United, who are looking for a striker to fill in for Cristiano Ronaldo. Brands revealed that their plans will be subject to any concrete offers reaching his desk in coming weeks.

"We are still open to receive bids for his services. Let's see if a club comes asking with the kind of money we want in January," Brands added.

Initial reports claim that PSV have slapped a $60M asking price for the player's services.
