It has become a usual thing to see fans blaming their coach for a significant loss, but this time they might be right on point with their criticism.
The game between the USMNT and the Netherlands was sorted out by some precise tactics created by Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal, who seemed to outclass the American tactician, who did not seem to have a backup plan if the team went behind, as it did during the earlier moments of the game, courtesy of Memphis Depay.
But once the game ended, USMNT fans were not as apologetic when it came to analyzing Berhalter's coaching style, with some of them even going as far as to ask his sacking for the benefit of one of the three teams that will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Anyone who has a half decent knowledge of soccer knows that Berhalter just got absolutely WORKED by Louis van Gaal. We played directly into the Dutch game plan…

Gregg Berhalter should be sacked after this game, just an awful effort

Dear Gregg Berhalter,

Thanks for everything you did with the Crew.
Please never coach a thing I like ever again though.
Regards,
All of us
I applaud Berhalter for advancing USMNT out of the Bunker Ball era and into an era of putting the ball on front foot to unsettle defenses with movement and possession.

But the track record, when it comes to his squads scoring goals, is what it is, at all levels. Time to move on.
The Federation needs to have a deep, thorough conversation about where they believe Berhalter can take this squad in the future.

There's only ONE chance to take 2026 by the horns with this generation in their prime so they can reap the rewards of their potential.
Gregg Berhalter, I'd say it's been an honor but it has not.

Time to go.
Credit to Gregg Berhalter for getting us out of the group.

I also want to start building a team to win the World Cup so I expect Gregg's resignation letter on my desk within the hour
