Barca set to fund transfer plans with four exits

Barcelona ready to part ways with four key players to fund transfer plans

May 18, 2021 By Oscar Rojas
Following the club's disappointing performance in La Liga. four players could be living their final weeks as Blaugrana footballers.

The upcoming transfer window will be one of the most interesting in Barcelona's recent history for many reasons, and one of those would have to do with the departures of some of their top players.

With Lionel Messi's future still hanging by a thread, Barcelona's hierarcy has reportedly started eyeing the names of the players that could be set for a contract re-adjustment, but if they refuse to the terms of their current agreements, they could end up leaving the club for good.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the names of the players that will have to sit down with Joan Laporta and discuss their future may be, in most cases, quite surprising to some, since most of them played a key role in building the team's legacy in recent years. Others, unfortunately, have been harshly criticized since their arrival and their exit could pave the way for more deals.

The first name on that list is none other than Gerard Piqué. The center back is one of the the top earners in the team, and his name has often been included in lists that believe that his time at Camp Nou should end. The second one is that of Sergio Busquets, who has also been added to this list due to the physical problems that have seen his time on the pitch being reduced.

The other names on Mundo Deportivo's list are those of Sergi Roberto and Antoine Griezmann. The polivalent footballer has been singled out by many as one of the culprits of some of the team's recent disappointments. Meanwhile, Griezmann's performances have always been deemed as sub-par, and the need to sign a striker would make him one of the first to leave the club this summer.

If things go as the report states, three of Barcelona's four captains this season could leave the club this summer, with Messi's situation still to be worked out. Without a doubt, such moves could mark the end of an era at Camp Nou. The only thing left to figure out is which team will make an effort to sign them now...
