All eyes were on Cristiano Ronaldo to accomplish one more record in football history, and just like fate wanted it, the footballer did not disappoint by scoring one more crucial goal for Portugal.
The veteran striker was able to put all distractions aside and managed to score the first goal of the evening for A Seleçao with a penalty kick. There were some doubts about how deserved the penalty was, since the ref was somewhat impressed by CR7's fall after a slight shove by Mohamed Salisu, but even if there were doubts, the footballer delivered with a hard knock to the right side of Lawrence Ati's net.
With this goal, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first footballer in history to score in five different World Cup editions, surpassing names such as Pelé, Lionel Messi, and Uwe Seeler.
