This massive deal would see the English giants become arguably the richest club in the world.

Although most of the world is focused on the happenings in Qatar as the 2022 FIFA World Cup is in full swing, it's still business as usual as far as football is concerned.

Hot on the heels of Cristiano Ronaldo's abrupt departure, Manchester United could be thrown into more chaos as the Glazer family, who have held a majority share in the English giants since 2005, have decided to put the club up for sale.

A team the size of Manchester United obviously will not come cheap, meaning that there only a handful of people - or corporations - that could meet the sticker price.

According to reports, one entity keen on getting involved is none other than Apple. The tech giants have been dipping their toes into the world of football for some time, including signing a ten year deal with Major League Soccer that is worth an estimated $250 million per season.

The same report claims that Apple are reportedly ready to offer $7.0 billion (£5.8 billion) to purchase Manchester United. With an annual revenue approaching nearly $400 billion (£326 billion) and an overall value of about $2.4 trillion (£2 trillion) - yes that's trillion - buying the English giants certainly won't do much damage to their overall bank balance.

It would also make the Red Devils the richest club in world football by some margin and could help the 20-time Premier League winners to really spend big as they aim to turn their fortunes around both domestically and on the continent.
