England given good news for two key players

2022 FIFA World Cup: England given encouraging news ahead of next match

November 22, 2022 By Michelle Bonsu
The Three Lions have kicked off their World Cup in resounding fashion, and now have been given some good news ahead of their next game against the USA.

England are still certainly in a celebratory mood following their resounding 6-2 rout of Iran on matchday one, and ahead of their next game against the USA, the Three Lions have been given some additional great news.

Although Leicester City's James Maddison remains out, it's been reported that both Harry Kane and Harry Maguire took part in a post match training session, which comes as a big boost for Gareth Southgate's side.

Both players were subbed off during the victory over Iran, with Kane reportedly picking up a worrying ankle injury while it appears that Maguire suffered a concussion.

As such, there were concerns about the availability of the Tottenham ace, as well as the Manchester United defender heading into England's next match, but now it seems that both players should be fit enough to be involved in the upcoming showdown with the USMNT on Friday.

Thanks to their resounding win, which saw youngsters Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka both get on the score-sheet, England sit on top of Group B by a two point margin following the draw between the USA and Wales later on Monday.

Southgate will be pleased with the recovery of two of his key players as the Three Lions prepare for their upcoming match, which will take place on Friday, November 25th at 19.00 GMT (14.00 EST). A win against the United States would definitely put them in pole position to qualify from their group as many have tipped Wales to beat Iran also on matchday two.
