PSG will aim to ruin Lille's immediate coronation as league champions when they travel to Rennes on Sunday night.

Preview

With the dreams of winning the Champions League deferred, Paris Saint-Germain will aim to keep up their push to defend their Ligue 1 title when they travel to Rennes for Sunday's encounter. Les Parisians were knocked out of the continental competition after picking up a 4-1 aggregate defeat against Manchester City on Tuesday night. That aside, the odds of winning the domestic league become slimmer with each passing matchday as, with two games left of the season to play, Mauricio Pochettino's men are four points behind leaders Lille.

PSG approach Sunday's trip to Rennes on the backdrop of a narrow 2-1 win over Lens and will aim to build on that. They have won each of their last four games in the competition and are without defeat in their last six away outings, winning all six matches emphatically. Nevertheless, they have not been as resolute as they are usually known with the Ligue 1 defending champions failing to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven matches.

Pochettino's side cannot afford to slip in any of the remaining games as it would give Lille a clear stroll towards securing the Ligue 1 crown. But given how much of a force the French capital club has shown on the road, they are expected to return to winning ways this weekend. For hosts Rennes, the mission to secure a European spot is well and truly in sight and they will be eager to spoil the party for defending champions come Sunday.

Despite suffering a 3-0 defeat against the Parisians at the beginning of the season, they have well punched above their weight to be contest for a place in the continental cup next season. Bruno Genesio's men will welcome PSG to the Roazhon Park following the disappointing 1-0 defeat they picked up against Bordeaux in last weekend's clash.

The result, however, left them in seventh position, with just two points separating them an a Europa League spot. Their charge was also helped by the fact that rivals Marseille and Lens were unable to win their respective matches.

The availability of Marco Verrati, Colin Dagba and Alessandro Florenzi also remains quesition with the pair yet to recover from respective injuries.
