Chelsea host Genk on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League and Andre Villas-Boas is determined to win his second ever UEFA Champions League fixture as manager of the Blues.
Chelsea produced an uninspiring performance against Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League. They went in front through a strike from Frank Lampard but a late penalty goal from Roberto Soldado secured a point for the hosts. Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas wants to avoid anything other than a victory this time round at all cost.

“We cannot allow ourselves to relax against Genk but that is what can happen in a game which everyone expects you to win,” the young boss told the press on Monday.

“Our group is still very open so we have to concentrate on taking six points from our next two games against Genk to put us in a good position to qualify for the next round.

“We were 10 minutes away from winning our last game away to Valencia and we let them equalise and now anything can happen in this group.”

Last weekend, Chelsea defeat Everton 3-1 to maintain their third position in the English Premier League table. But despite finding a boost in confidence through this game, Andre Villas-Boas views Genk as a potential threat. Explaining his opinion, the Portuguese manager analyzed the condition of Chelsea’s upcoming opponent by saying:

“Their league is not going so well for them and they are still getting used to playing with their new manager.

“But they still have good individual talent and they are a good team. I played them last season with Porto and won 3-0 away and 4-2 at home. But the results do not reflect the games.

“We cannot take it easy against Genk. We have to focus on the job in hand.”

Chelsea still seat on top of Group E, though. They have 4 points from a possible 6. Bayer Leverkusen following with 3 points whereas Valencia have 2. A shock result will put Genk on the same number of points as Chelsea.
