Real Madrid may still be very much involved in the title race to win La Liga and in the UEFA Champions League, but that is not an impediment to keep planning their moves for next season.
The team's need for a superstar seemingly has seen Florentino Pérez narrowing down their pursuit to two names: Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé. While the Norwegian ace seems to be slipping out of their grip due to Borussia Dortmund's reluctance to sell, Kylian Mbappé is still a feasible objective because he has not committed to a new deal with PSG.
With that in mind, and considering that the player's deal at Parc des Princes ends next season, Los Blancos are ready to bid for the footballer by offering the French side a cash-plus-player deal that suits their needs. Real Madrid execs have repeatedly stated they will not include Vinicius in such a deal, another name has emerged as an alternative following the recent developments at the Bernabeu.
The name that could be included in the negotiation would be none other than Raphael Varane. The defender is keen to end his term at the Bernabeu this year, and the fact that his contract with the club ends next season could edge him closer to being included in such a deal.
According to a report by As, PSG's owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Pérez would reach an agreement of around $150M for Mbappé's transfer, but always adding Varane to the mix. That way, Real Madrid would cover a good chunk of Mbapppe's wages with the amount they paid Varane and keep their fans satisfied with a marquee signing.
The idea of letting Mbappé go would fit a narrative in which PSG are interested in signing Lionel Messi, as reported earlier by TNT Sports.
