Arsenal's main problem right now seems to be about their defense. That's what has seen them give games away this season.
The crisis of the Gunners is yet to end. To think that they have conceded as many as 14 goals in 4 matches since their debut 0-0 draw against Newcastle is alarming.

On match-day 3 of the English Premier League, Arsenal conceded 8 goals to Manchester United. Last weekend, they allowed 4 to Blackburn Rovers. That game and the one at home to Liverpool also means that Arsenal have now scored 3 own goals.

“A lack of concentration, a lack of communication, a lack of co-ordination and individual urgency,” Wenger told the press as he explained the reasons behind Arsenal’s poor defending this season.

“When you score an own goal, you have to look at yourself. It is never completely out of your reach where you have no chance at all.”

Arsenal are 17th in the English Premier League and anti-Gunners have reduced the club’s ambition this season to a relegation battle. But Arsene Wenger wants to remain focused on lifting Arsenal back up.

“Our season depends now on how well we respond to this disappointment and how quickly we can cut out the mistakes we made on Saturday by giving away goals that we should never give away,” the coach stated.

“The Blackburn game was very disappointing and frustrating. I must say that the disappointments and frustrations are huge.

“We feel we gave that game away, not that we have lost the game. There is nothing worse in our job than having that feeling.”

On Tuesday night, Arsenal will host Shrewsbury in the English Carling Cup. The away side is expected to be cheered by 5,000 supporters as an upset of the Gunners hasn’t been ruled out by football pundits.

Arsene Wenger has picked up an inexperienced squad which will be led by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ryo Miyaichi and Ju Young Park. Explaining his controversial decision, Wenger concluded:

“We need to find the right mixture in this competition between keeping our faith in young players and winning the games.”
