Harry Kane lands multiple Premier League records

Harry Kane lands multiple Premier League milestones in Everton-Tottenham stalemate

April 16, 2021 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Spurs attacker entered the history books for his goals contribution as his side were held to a 2-2 draw on Friday night.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane landed three different milestones with his goal contribution in his side's Premier League clash with Everton. The 27-year-old Englishman hit the target twice as Gylfi Sigurdsson's double ensured a 2-2 draw in the epic clash.

He broke the deadlock for Spurs inside the 29th minutes, firing a shot from about eight yards into the bottom left corner of Everton's post manned by compatriot Jordan Pickford. Not long after, a foul on James Rodriguez in the visitor's penalty area by Sergio Reguilon gave Gylfi Sigurdsson the opportunity to restore parity for the Toffees before the first half break.

The Iceland international then completed the comeback for his side with a fine finish in the 62nd minute to become the third ex-Spurs player to score a Premier League brace against the club. However, the lead did not last as eight minutes later Harry Kane sprung up once more to score his second of the night. This time, the Englishman captilized on a defensive error by Michael Keane and Mason Holgate to smash home the equalizer for Jose Mourinho's side.

Nevertheless, Kane could not complete the game as a late tackle on his right ankle by Richarlison forced his substitution in the final minutes of additional time. But with his goal contributions in the night's game, the English international became in Premier League history to score two or more goals in three consecutive away appearances against a single opponent.

His two-goal haul on Friday also took him into seventh place in the all-time Premier League top scorers list. The Spurs attacker's total of 164 is only bettered by Alan Shearer (260), Wayne Rooney (208), Andy Cole (187), Sergio Aguero (181), Frank Lampard (177) and Thierry Henry (175). He now holds the record for scoring the most Premier League goals without having won the league title. The striker also joins Alan Shearer Thierry Henry, and Sergio Aguero as the only players to have scored 20+ goals in five Premier League seasons.

For his Tottenham Hotspur side, they now share the record as the Premier League side to have dropped more points from winning positions this season with Brighton & Hove Albion. Both clubs have dropped 20 points in games in which they took the lead first.
