This may surprise a few of his fans, perhaps...

He only recently celebrated his 29th birthday, but it seems like Neymar has been playing football for, well, forever.

The former Barcelona man, who now plays his club football for PSG after securing a record-breaking €222 million move to the capital club back in 2017, is hoping to help Les Parisiens finally end their long wait for Champions League glory this season. Last year saw them come close, but were unfortunately denied success as Bayern Munich won it thanks to, ironically, none other than former PSG player Kingsley Coman's solitary goal in the final.

When not playing football, however, Neymar has discovered a knack for playing poker - like milllions of others do around the world. Apparently, he started playing back in 2014 while with his national team at the World Cup and enjoyed doing so with Gerard Pique during his years at Camp Nou.

Now at PSG, his playing buddies include Keylor Navas and Leandro Paredes. But for the Brazilian superstar, it's apparently more than just a mere hobby. And he believes that he can easily transfer his skills from playing professional football to professional poker as well:

"Among the similarities between poker and football, I think focus is one of them. The way you read your opponent and the game is also very important," he noted in a recent interview.

"I think one of the most important things in football, and what I do on the pitch, is to read the game, read your opponent, and see where you can attack, where you can move to create a chance for your team.

"And in poker it's the same, you have to read the game, read your opponents and know the right time to attack your opponent.

"So when I finish my football career, that's one of the things I'm going to do, travel to play [in these] type of tournament[s] thatI have always wanted to participate in and could not do because of my career."

Currently, PSG are into the semi's of this year's edition of the Champions League, having gotten revenge on Bayern to dump the Bavarian titans out. They'll next take on Manchester City in a much anticipated two-legged encounter, and are on course to win a Treble. As for Neymar, he'll hope to get back on track after being sent off during PSG's 1-0 loss to Lille a couple rounds back and will be in action with Les Parisiens as they take on Angers in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France on April 21st.
