The 2020-21 Primeira Liga title race continues to keep fans on the edge of their seats, and while Sporting are still at the top, the gap between them and the second place shortened during the past weekend.

The games that took place during the past days had something fore everyone, starting with Porto's narrow win at home. Their win was followed up by Benfica's win against Maritimo, which helped them keep the third place all to themselves. Meanwhile, the top story of the weekend saw Sporting dropping two points after a late draw against Moreirense, something that Ruben Amorim's men had not been used to during the course of the season.

Top four teams in the Primeira Liga until April 5

Sporting are now eight points away from Porto after their draw. Porto's win gave Conceicao's men a bit of hope while also helped them keep a safe distance from Benfica, who are still three points behind the Dragons. As for Jorge Jesús' men, their victory came in handy to keep their one-point advantage over Braga in their battle for third place.

Sporting's Pedro Gonçalves' kept his lead at the top of the goalscoring charts mainly because Haris Seferovic was unable to score. The only striker from the top 3 to find the back of the net was Sergio Oliveira, who scored once in Porto's 2-1 win and raised his tally to 12 goals

  • Nuno Mendes' injury explained - The 18-year-old, one of the top players for Sporting, was removed from the pitch during the first half of the game against Moreirense. While fans had little hopes to see the player escaping an injury, the team's medical staff revealed that he was subbed off due to a knock, which may allow him to play next week.

  • Porto boss tipped to leave club by the end of the season - Sergio Conceicao could be living his final months as Porto's boss, since his good performances in the Primeira Liga and the UEFA Champions League with the Dragons have caught the eye of Serie A giants Roma. Pacos' season has been impressive, but their chances to make it to the top four seem slim right now, which may push them to the limit and try to beat the Eagles.

  • Sporting vs Famalicao - The league leaders want to erase any doubts after their recent draw, and what better way to do so than beating Famalicao, one of the teams that is still battling to avoid relegation.
