Thierry Henry’s plans to bid farewell to Arsenal in style were shattered last night through referee Kevin Friend.
On Sunday night, New York Red Bulls and Arsenal faced each other in club friendly. The match ended 1-1 as the Gunners got booed off in front of around 60,000 spectators.

Meanwhile, Thierry Henry was angry at the referee’s decision to deny him from appearing for ex-club Arsenal during the match. Henry’s idea was to feature for the Gunners towards the very end of the match in which he commenced as a New York Red Bulls player.

“I wanted to do it and I'm sure the fans would have wanted to see it,” fired an angry Thierry Henry to reporters in a post-match interview.

The football icon added:

“But we were told at half-time it was not possible. Stupid rules,”

Last year, Javier Chicharito was seen playing for Chivas and Manchester United in a single friendly match.
