LA FC partners with FLEX as their kit sponsors

Los Angeles FC picks surprising choice as new kit sponsor ahead of upcoming season

March 29, 2021 By Michelle Bonsu
The power tools manufacturer replaces the well-known social media outlet as the kit sponsor for Los Angeles FC for the upcoming MLS season.

With the upcoming MLS season around the corner, many teams are announcing new sponsorship deals for everything from stadiums to their kits.

And Los Angeles FC is naturally among them. Founded in 2014, LA FC, who are also known as the Black and Gold, began play during the 2018 season as an expansion team and finished as runners-up during the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League after losing in the final to Tigres UNAL.

Bob Bradley's men be looking forward to locking horns with city rivals LA Galaxy in the newly-created derby "El Trafico" this season, and in the meantime, have signed an interesting new sponsorship contract with FLEX, formally titled as FLEX-Elektrowerkzeuge GmbH, a German-based power tools company that was founded in 1922. This replaces the previous contract they had with YouTube from 2018 until earlier this month as the official sponsor of their kits.

In 2013, FLEX were acquired by global power tool manufacturer Chevron and while the actual financial details of this contract haven't been made public, what we do know is the following: FLEX's sponsorship package includes media, signage, co-branded retail promotion, bespoke content, and they will get to provide the official construction tools as well as be the official power tool provider for Los Angeles FC.

In addition, Los Angeles FC are the first sports team to link up with Chevron, who now become part of a unique group of companies who comprise LA FC's "golden boot" club. These entities make up the team's most prominent sponsors, and among them include organizations such as Delta Airlines, Target, Toyota, and Heineken.

Fans will see players in the new FLEX power tools kits when LA FC take to the pitch in their first home match against newly created side Austin FC on April 17th. If you're based in the US (or elsewhere) you can find out where to watch the game, which kicks off at 6 PM EST on FOX and FOX Deportes by checking out our specific match page here.
