The Rossoneri, who scored a vital away goal in the first leg, now have been given a huge boost ahead of the visit of the Red Devils this Thursday.

It was a late, late goal from defender Simon Kjaer that gave Milan a crucial life-line against Manchester United, and now the Rossoneri have been given an additional huge boost ahead of the second leg on Thursday.

Milan are hoping to win their first European title since their 2007 Champions League triumph, and although their task to book a quarter-finals berth won't be easy, Stefano Pioli now can rely on one of his key men.

That player is none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 39-year-old, who has scored 16 goals across all competitions, has been a protagonist as the Rossoneri also look to end their decade-long wait to get their hands on the Scudetto. Unfortunately, the veteran striker didn't have a chance to reconnect with his old colleagues at Old Trafford due to a thigh injury. And in his absence, Milan have really seemed out of sorts, losing last weekend to Napoli and drawing with Udinese at the start of this month.

According to Sky Italia, Ibrahimovic resumed training with his teammates yesterday and took part in the entire session. However, he's not expected to start on Thursday evening as Pioli isn't keen on rushing him back just yet, but could certainly be involved in some capacity from the bench.

Recently, it was also announced that Ibrahimovic, who signed a one-year extension to his Milan deal, will be returning to the Swedish national team for the first time since 2016, meaning that he's likely to be involved in this summer's EURO 2020 tournament.
