The Argentine bagged a prospective Goal of the Season contender before receiving his marching orders in the night's encounter.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela produced one of the best-ever finishes seen in the history of the North London derby before receiving his marching orders in the night's defeat. Fans and pundits alike were left in awe as the 29-year-old Argentine found the back of the net with a sensational rabona goal to break the deadlock.

The attacker, who had replaced an injured Heung-min Son, had his big moment coming in the 33rd minute of what was a keenly contested affair. There, he expertly dispatched a low ball with finesse right through the legs of Arsenal's Thomas Partey after receiving Sergio Reguilon's pass inside the host's penalty area.

Although the goal put Jose Mourinho's men in the driver's seat, the advantage did not last as Martin Odeegard restored parity 10 minutes later. Following the resumption of proceedings for the second half, Alexander Lacazette earned and scored from the penalty spot in the 64th minute before Tottenham's hopes of managing a comeback were dashed by Lamela sending off.

As per the turn of events in the night's clash, Lamela became the first player to score and also be sent off in a Premier League game for Tottenham since Emmanuel Adebayor in November 2012. The latter also managed the unwanted milestone against Arsenal in the North London derby.
