Juventus will aim to deliver a response to the upset they suffered in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg when they welcome Porto to the Allianz Stadium.

Preview

Juventus will look to avoid an early Champions League exit this seson whn they welcome FC Porto to the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday. The Old Lady approach the upcoming clash on the back of a disappointing first-leg display which saw them pick up a 2-1 away defeat. A second minute opener by Mehdi Taremi put the Turin club on the backfoot before Moussa Marega doubled the Portuguese club's advantage before half time. A few minutes before full-time, Federico Chiesa got the visitors the all-important away goal to set-up a grandstand reverse encounter.

At the moment Juventus are odds on favorites to progress and will be required to overturn a deficit in the Round of 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League for the second successive season. Although they are still looking to hit a purple patch under manager Andre Pirlo, the Old Lady will fancy its chances ahead of Tuesday's test. They will carry on the morale from the weekend's 3-1 win over Lazio into the encounter and will hope to yield a similar result if not better. So far, they have won three of their last four games in all competition and have drawn the remaining one.

In Serie A, Juventus are finding it difficult to put together a consistent run that will take them close to getting their 10th Scudetto in a row. They are being given a good run for their money by rivals Inter Milan and AC Milan who occupy the first and second spot on the league table respectively. Currently, 10 points seperate the defending champions and the Nerrazzuri and while a the league is far from over, Pirlo and his made could make a bigger statement by making a positive step towards securing European glory.

For FC Porto, the trip to Turin came at a very opportune time. Over the weekend, the Dragons ended a two-game winless run by beating Gil Vincente in the Primeira Liga. Just like Juventus, the reigning Portuguese champions have experienced a torrid time defending their title as they find themselves 12 points adrift of leaders Sporting CP. This can be partly attributed to the fact that they won just two of their last six league matches.

Needless to say, they are on the cusps of pulling off one of the Champions League's biggest upsets this season and will be required to hold their grounds in order to avoid another cup elimination. Almost a week ago, Sergio Conceicao's men were dumped out of the Taca de Portugal by Sporting Braga on a 4-3 on aggregate scoreline. Against Juve, an away goal or two could come in handy despite the fact that it will not come easy. While Porto's attackers have managed to score eight goals in their last five matches, the Turin club has also conceded just three in their last five.

Team news

Juventus have received a double injury boost with both Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt nearing a return from respective injuries. Both Leonardo Bonucci and Arthur featured in the second half of Saturday's win over Lazio. Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala is still out of contention with an injury, while Rodrigo Bentancur is out with a positive COVID-19 case. Full-back Danilo  is suspended for the meeting with Porto.

The Dragons, on the other hand, could be forced to battle their way through without the service of both Pepe and Jesus Corona. The pair picked up knocks in the win over Gil Vicente but face late fitness tests to confirm their availability. Both Chancel Mbemba and Ivan Marcano have also been ruled out of contention.

Predicted starting XI
