The Frenchman scored the leveller for Real Madrid as they held Atletico Madrid to a draw at Wanda Metropolitano.

Real Madrid kept it late to secure a point in Sunday's Madrid derby with Karim Benzema scoring the White's only goal to tie the score. The Frenchman sprang into action in the 88th minute, finishing off a one-two passing move to earn the visitors a crucial point at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Real Madrid were forced to chase a result for the most part of the afternoon's encounter after Luis Suarez got the opener for Atletico in the 15th minute. Three minutes prior to half-time, the visitors had an opportunity to get a leveller but had a penalty decision overturned by the Video Assistant Referee despite Tony Kroos' cross hitting the arm of Felipe.

Two minutes before full-time, Benzema stepped up to convert an assist from Casemiro, denying Atletico Madrid the opportunity establish an eight-point lead above them. With a game in hand, Los Colchoneros are now only two points above second-placed Barcelona.
