New Bayern Munich signing Manuel Neuer has warned his former employers to not add 41 year old Jens Lehmann to their goalkeeping ranks.
Manuel Neuer left Veltins Arena for the Allianz Arena but he still took some time to deliver a simple piece of advice to his former employers: Do not sign Jens Lehmann. Schalke are apparently close to agreeing a deal with the former Arsenal goalkeeper but while Neuer was a fan of Lehmann, he admits that signing him at this moment will not represent a good deal of business.

Schalke recently signed Ralf Fahrmann to replace Neuer but are looking to bring in Lehmann as a back-up in case of emergency.

"Lehmann was one of my favourite goalkeepers together with Edwin van der Sar. However, I have to be honest. I do not think that it would work out well if he joins Schalke.

"I would advise Schalke to have faith in Mathias Schober. He has been at Schalke for several years and has a lot of experience. He has always played an important role to keep me on top of my game. He could do the same for Fahrmann."

Lehmann recently came out of retirement to re-sign a temporary deal with Arsenal during a critical period where they only had one fit goalkeeper in their squad.
