Manchester City equal Premier League record with Arsenal win

The Citizens extended their incredible winning run in Sunday's away trip to the Emirates.

Manchester City extended their incredible winning run by beating Premier League rivals Arsenal on Sunday. The Citizens maintained a 10-point lead atop the table by seeing off the Gunners via a 1-0 score at the Emirates.

It took Pep Guardiola's side just 77 seconds to make their mark as they ready themselves for Wednesday's Champions League Round of 16 clash with Borussia Monchengladbach. Raheem Sterling rose the highest to guide Riyahd Mahrez's cross past Bernd Leno in the Arsenal goal, becoming the third player in the Premier League's history to score in three consecutive away games against the Gunners.

Not much ensued from that point onwards with the English winger and his teammates relying on their newly-found defensive prowess to see out the rest of the game. In essence, Man City took their point tally for the season to 59 in 25 appearances with the win. The result also saw them equal the record for successive away wins by an English top-flight team across all competitions (11). Interestingly, the record was initially set by Pep Guardiola's side between May and November 2017.

In the grand scheme of things, they have won 18 games on the trot and are just seven wins away from breaking the world record for successive number of wins in all competitions. The landmark figure was attained by Brazilian club side Coritiba in 2011.
