Manchester United might be on the brink of lifting their 19th league title but Steven Gerrard is warning everybody to expect a fightback from Liverpool next season.
The Reds are on a riot in the Premier League recently with Maxi Rodriguez grabbing headlines with his explosive form. However, something painful could be happening to the Anfield faithfuls this weekend as Manchester United are on the brink of lifting their record-breaking 19th league title.

The last time Liverpool won a league title was in 1991 when King Kenny was in charge and while Steven Gerrard has never ever lifted the Premier League trophy in his career, the Reds' skipper insisted that much more can be expected from them with Kenny Dalglish set to be in charge next season.

According to The Mirror, Gerrard said: "It's hurtful from our point of view because we held the record for so long. But you have to give credit where it's due - they've overtaken us for the time being.

"The good thing from our point of view is we are on our way back up and we won't give up the fight to overtake them again - don't worry about that.

"That is the motivation - to know your bitter rivals have just overtaken you on league titles. We can still boast about the European Cups, of course, but we need to amend the 19-18. Myself and everyone else will be doing everything in our power to do that.
