Fans and experts beñieved that Kylian Mbappé needed to step up and deliver a top-caliber performance against Barcelona to be considered as football's next big thing, and the Frenchman did not disappoint in his first game at Camp Nou.
Paris Saint-Germain's No.7 did not waste his chance to make his presence felt at Los Blaugranas' home with an impressive performance, which included a hat-trick and a complete dominance over Barcelona's defenders, especially against USMNT footballer Sergiño Dest.
Mbappé scored via an individual effort right after the 30-minute mark, and added two more to his tally during the second half. The first one of those came after a botched effort by Gerard Piqué to clear the ball, and the second one took place after a lightning-like counter-attack led by Julian Draxler.
With this performance, Mbappé became the first player in history to score a hat-trick against Barcelona at Camp Nou in a KO stage match. There were a few players to accomplish that feat previously, but none of them in a decisive stage.
3 - Kylian Mbappé became the third player in @ChampionsLeague history to score a hat-trick against Barcelona, after Faustino Asprilla and Andriy Shevchenko in 1997, both scoring in the group stage. Stellar. https://t.co/2wQi3eYG5D
