The German manager believes that it will be impossible for his side to defend their title following Saturday's defeat to Leicester City.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that it is impossible for his side to contest for the Premier League title after losing to Leicester City in the weekend's Premier League encounter. The Reds were put to the sword on Sunday afternoon by the Foxes, picking up a 3-1 defeat at the King Power Stadium after breaking the deadlock.

Following a goalless affair in the first half, the Premier League champions were fired in front 22 minutes into the second half by Mohamed Salah. The 28-year-old Egyptian attacker bagged his 16th goal of the season by slotting the ball home from close range with a fine assist from Roberto Firmino.

Shortly after, Leicester restored parity through James Maddison's free-kick after Thiago Alcantara had fouled Harvey Barnes right on the edge of his side's penalty box. The Foxes had the opportunity to go in front in the game for the first time in three minutes later, with Jamie Vardy capitalizing on a goalkeeping blunder by Alisson Becker to get on the scoresheet. Barnes then put the game to bed with a third for Brendan Rodgers' men in the 84th minute.

With the result, Liverpool picked up their third consecutive league defeat of the season, having lost to both Brighton and Man City in the previous week. They currently sit in fourth place with 40 points - 13 points behind leaders Manchester City who defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 later on Saturday night. The Etihad outfit has a game in-hand against Aston Villa and a win could see their lead stretched to 16 points.

Against this backdrop, Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has admitted that the race to contend for the title is all but over. Check out his post-game remarks below:
