The Blues struggled to keep out the the Citizens as their woes in the league deepened.

A dismal performance by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge resulted in the Blues dropping three more points in Sunday's clash with Manchester City. The hosts were able to contain the threat of Pep Guardiola's men and ended up conceding three goals in the first half for the second time ever in a Premier League home game.

Manchester City, who had a host of key players absent through coronavirus infection, broke the deadlock inside the 18th minute through Ilkay Gundogan. The German international made a dummy run off a pass from Phil Foden to beat Chelsea's Thiago Silva and buried a shot into the bottom right-hand corner for his second successive goal in the league.

Three minutes later, Phil Foden doubled City's advantage to two. As a result, he became the second youngest player to score and assist in a Premier League game against Chelsea at the age of 20 years and 220 days. Jermain Defoe outrightly holds the record, having scored against the North London club in September 2002 at the age of 19 years and 356 days.

Following the young Englishman's feat, Kevin De Bruyne added City's third of the afternoon. In effect, the latter took his tally against Chelsea to four, becoming the ex-player with the most Premier League goals against the Blues.

Substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi eased the pain of Frank Lampard's side by tapping home a brilliant cross by Kai Havertz in the 93rd minute to deny Man City a sixth clean sheet in seven league games.
