Kieran Tierney makes history as Arsenal thump West Brom

January 2, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Scottish defender grabbed a brilliant solo goal to inspire the Gunners to a big away win on Saturday.

Arsenal started 2021 on a good note as they grabbed a massive win against West Bromwich Albion in Saturday night's Premier League encounter. The Gunners ended the day with a 4-0 win at the Hawthorns with Kieran Tierney scoring the opening goal to become the first-ever Scottish player to score an away goal in the the  English top-flight league for the London club.

Arsenal came into the game off the back of picking three vital points away to Brighton & Hove Albion and needed just 23 minutes to make their mark against the Baggies. It all began with Kieran Tierney beating Darnell Furlong twice on the left flank before cutting in to smash home a shot inside the penalty area with his weaker right foot.

Five minutes later, Bukayo Saka finished off a well-worked team move to increase Arsenal's advantage to two. In the second half, Alexander Lacazette scored in the 60th minute and the 64th minute to take the scoreline to 4-0.

The night's big win took Arsenal's point haul to 23 in 17 matches as they climbed to 11th on the league table. The Gunners are now currently six points off the top four. They are set to host Crystal Palace at the Emirates in their next Premier League outing scheduled for January 14.
