The Gunners travel to Goodison Park having failed to win any of their last six Premier League games. Will Arteta’s side end their horrible form in Saturday’s highly-anticipated clash? Here’s our preview of Everton vs Arsenal.

Preview – Everton vs Arsenal

Arsenal return to action straight after their midweek disappointment against Southampton, this time taking on Everton in a highly-anticipated Saturday showdown. The Gunners will be visiting the high-flying Merseyside club with the sole aim of returning to winning ways, but securing a victory at Goodison Park will be no easy feat regardless of their recent struggles.

As mentioned above, the north London giants drew 1-1 at home to the Saints in yet another game that saw Arteta's side get reduced to 10 men. This time it was Gabriel who was sent off, with the Brazilian center-back given his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards. Regardless of the disadvantage, it was more points dropped for Arsenal, with the club's winless run now stretching to six games. The only silver lining is that the draw brought an end to their three-match losing streak.

To put their form into perspective, the Gunners have won only twice in their last 11 league games. This has left them rotting in 15th with only 14 points after 15 rounds. The FA Cup holders are 10 points adrift a top-four spot and are only five points above the relegation zone. Arteta's men could climb up to 13th should they triumph and both Newcastle and Leeds suffer defeats, but it's hard to imagine the earlier happening.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored Arsenal's goal in the 1-1 draw, bringing an end to his horrific goal drought – the Gabonese had not found the back off since the 1-0 win at Man United in early November and had not scored in open play since the 3-0 Matchday 1 victory over Fulham. Furthermore, the return of promising youngster Gabriel Martinelli could help in the goalscoring department, with the likes of Willian, Lacazette, Saka, and Pepe struggling to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

As for Everton, they head into this game on the back of a lovely 2-0 triumph over Leicester. In fact, Ancelotti's side are on a two-game winning streak, securing crucial back-to-back victories over first Chelsea then the Foxes. Given that the Toffees had triumphed only once in the seven games that preceded those two victories, it was an impressive and welcome turnaround in fortunes. Will Calvert-Lewin and Co. add Arsenal to their list of victims? Tune in to find out!

Team news

Everton: This game comes too soon for Lucas Digne but Seamus Coleman could return this weekend. James Rodriguez, however, might not be risked after sitting out Everton's last two games. Allan looks set to miss this one.

Arsenal: Granit Xhaka and Gabriel are both suspended for this game, with the Swiss midfielder in particular spending the second of his three-match ban. Bellerin is back from suspension and looks to return to the lineup. It will be interesting to see whether Lacazette or Nketiah will get the nod, with the latter starting in the 1-1 draw with Southampton and setting up Aubameyang for the equalizer. Martinelli could be pushing for an early return and could make the squad for Saturday's match.
