Preview: Spurs vs Ludogorets

Spurs come into this match certainly full of confidence after they beat Manchester City 2-0 in a very entertaining clash last round. That result sees Jose Mourinho's men sitting on top of the table at the moment, and means that they have beaten both Manchester teams already this season. Moreover, Tottenham are now on a four game winning streak across all competitions and have lost just two of their last 11 games overall, but haven't yet secured their spot in the knockout round of the Europa League just yet.

As things stand, Spurs are on top of their quartet, but are joint tied with Antwerp and LASK Linz on six points. That being said, those two teams will face off and that means that someone will drop points, which will certainly play to Tottenham's advantage as they will be hosting none other than Ludogorets, who have yet to pick up a single point so far in this season's group stages.

Spurs had no problems in the reverse fixture, as they eased to a 3-1 win over the Bulgarian outfit, and they will be expected to put on the same kind of performance in London on Thursday evening. Although Ludogorets may be doing well in their own domestic league, they clearly have been out of their depth in European competition and given their poor record against English teams, they are expected to be in for a long evening in England's capital on Thursday.

The Bulgarian side's last and only trip to London ended in disaster as they were crushed 6-0 by Arsenal four years ago, and although Spurs will be missing a few key players, Mourinho will certainly rotate his squad, with players like Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura featuring in the starting XI in order to perhaps give top goalscorers Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min a bit of a rest. Obviously, given the strength of Tottenham's squad, this should be a pretty straightforward win despite the hosts missing some options in defense.

Spurs: Defender Toby Alderweireld is set to miss at least a couple of weeks after suffering an adductor injury during his team's 2-0 win over Manchester City last weekend. Fellow defender Matt Doherty has returned to training after recovering from COVID-19. Meanwhile, Erik Lamela is also out for the next few games due to an Achilles issue.

Ludogorets: Higinio Marin and Wanderson are long-term absentees for the visitors.
