The 28-year-old winger added to the Reds' injury crisis by picking up the virus while on international duty with Egypt.

Liverpool have been dealt another blow amid their injury crisis with forward Mohamed Salah testing positive for coronavirus. On Friday, a statement by the Egyptian FA revealed that the player had picked up the virus ahead of Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiier with Togo.

The report, which has since been deleted, added that the 28-year-old winger was not showing any symptoms and is being held in isolation while pending more checks. Two other players are confirmed to have also been infected while the rest of the squad are said tested negative.

Salah's plight presents yet another setback for Liverpool who have already lost a host of players to injuries in the new campaign. The Reds have not been the luckiest as far as fitness is concerned with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Trent-Alexander Arnold all on the treatment table for the forseeable future.

As per the guidelines for isolation, Mohamed Salah is expected to miss Egypt's double header with Togo on Saturday and Tuesday. Also, he could potentially be sidelined for Liverpool's next two games against Leicester City and Atalanta on November 22nd and November 25th respectively.

The former Chelsea and AS Roma star has been in top form for Jurgen Klopp's side this season, scoring 10 goals in only 13 appearances.
