The Dortmund ace is on the radar of several European heavyweights, but according to one man, he could favor a move to the Premier League.

Erling Braut Haaland is one of the hottest strikers in world football and due to this fact, he has heavily been linked with a move to Real Madrid – as does any world-class player. After stealing the spotlight due to his UEFA Champions League exploits with Salzburg, the Norwegian sealed a January move to Dortmund and went from strength to strength in the Bundesliga.

Los Blancos' interest in the 20-year-old isn't surprising. The biggest attractor is his age as he boasts several years ahead of him, unlike Zidane's current no.9 Karim Benzema, who is 32. Additionally, Haaland is a goalscoring machine, something Santiago Bernabeu has lacked since Cristiano Ronaldo departed in 2018.

Despite all of this, the striker is tipped to join another European giant over Real Madrid and they are none other than Liverpool. This prediction was made by Christoph Freund, the sporting director at RB Salzburg, touting the Dortmund ace to make the switch to Anfield when he's ready to take the next big step in his professional career.

Fruend, someone who probably knows Haaland better than most, was on Sky Sports, speaking about where Erling is most likely to end up should he leave the Signal Iduna Park. Germany legend Lothar Matthaus was also on the show and suggested Liverpool as an option, which the RB Salzburg executive agreed with.

"That's where he will land," said Freund (as per Goal). "He can play for any club in the world. With his mentality, his will, with his self-confidence he can make a mark on European football in the next ten years."

Despite their recent success, fans have long been calling for Klopp to sign a goalscoring striker. Roberto Firmino has been integral to the Reds' style of play but his poor form in front of goal has been an issue.

The Merseyside giants were said to be interested in Timo Werner prior to him joining Chelsea but opted out due to his price tag. The addition of Diogo Jota has remedied this issue but it will be interesting to see whether the Premier League champions challenge Real Madrid for Haaland.

Fruend's statement is of no immediate concern to Real Madrid as their sole focus at the moment is their upcoming Champions League clash with Inter Milan. Los Blancos host the Nerazzurri as they go in search of their first win of the 2020/21 European season. Liverpool, on the other hand, face promising side Atalanta.
