The chance to bring back the most successful tactician in team history could be enough to see Lionel Messi staying with the Blaugrana side.

With Josep Maria Bartomeu's exit from Barcelona, those who want to take over as team president have come forward with some interesting proposals. One of those proposals is supposed to see Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi teaming up once again at Camp Nou next summer.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News, presidential candidate Victor Font came forward to state how his board will try to bring back some of the finest footballers -and coaches- the team has had the privilege to watch at Camp Nou Stadium, and those names would surely satisfy Messi's wishes to keep playing for the Blaugrana side.

"It is our intention to build a very strong and competitive project and we are very lucky at Barca that we inherited a style of play that Johan Cruyff instilled throughout the organisation. And most of the best professionals who know about this style are also fans and love the club - like Pep Guardiola, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol," Font stated.

"They are all legends that love Barcelona but do not work for Barca today - we need to bring them back to ensure we will have a very competitive project," Font added.

Sources close to Font's camp have stated that the candidate's intention is to bring Guardiola back as coach, with Xavi being handed the first assistant role. Having both men in the dugout would ensure that Barcelona's style would endure once Guardiola decides to call it quits. Carles Puyol's role would be that of the sporting director, according to those reports.

When asked about Lionel Messi's intention to leave the club, Font revealed the real reasons Messi might have to bid farewell to his only professional club. Furthermore, he pinpointed how the new president can try and convince Messi to stay.

"The only thing Messi needs is to know he is part of a competitive project that aspires to win the next Champions League. We have no doubt that if we basically have the honour to take the helm of FC Barcelona we will be able to achieve that," Font concluded.

The presidential elections at Barcelona are scheduled to take place next year. As of now, more than eight people have raised their hands to take the Blaugrana hot-seat as Bartomeu's replacement.
