The Spanish center-back was not able to keep it together when trying to defend an open-play action, which ended up in a goal for the Hungarian side.

It was not all sunshine and rainbows for Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League debut against Ferencvaros, and one of their problems this evening could come back to haunt them when they play for the top spot of the group against Juventus next week.

Just when the game was 3-0 for the Blaugrana side, Gerard Piqué was not able to keep up with the run by Ferencvaros' ace Tokmac Chol. While the Norwegian footballer took a shot on goal before being brought down, Piqué's foul was not overlooked by the game's referee, who decided to give a penalty to the Hungarian side. On top of that, Piqué was sent off for this action, meaning that he will not face Juventus next week.

Have a look at Piqué's reckless defending skills that cost him a red card (Image might be geo-restricted).

"Penalty and a red for Piqué! The Catalan defender makes a mistake and gives the Hungarian side a chance to get on the scoreboard."

Piqué's move was later punished by Ihor Kharatin, who scored Ferencvaros' only goal against the Blaugrana side.

As we stated earlier, Piqué's decision to foul Chol may not seem as relevant now, but only time will tell just how much the team will miss him next week, when they face a more capable opponent.
