Preview: Crotone vs Juventus
Struggling Crotone will be in for a long evening as they host reigning Serie A champs Juventus. The Bianconeri are chasing a tenth straight Scudetto, while the hosts are still looking for their first points of the nascent campaign. The Squali are no strangers to pulling off upsets, as they notably beat Lazio 3-1 on matchday 38 of the 2017/2018 season to squeak into 17th place and avoid the drop - in what was their first ever appearance in Serie A - but given how badly they've started this season, it's hard to see them getting anything out of their upcoming clash against La Vecchia Signora.
Crotone have shipped a whopping ten goals in just three games, and scored just twice. They were humiliated by fellow minnows Sassuolo 4-1 in their last match before the international hiatus, and failed to even find the back of the net against an AC Milan side who have been in excellent form this term. Although their last meeting with Juventus - in April 2018 - saw them finally score their first ever goal and avoid a defeat for the first time in six attempts, their dismal form really doesn't bode well for them ahead of the arrival of Andrea Pirlo's side.
Juventus, for their part, have started off their Scudetto defense solidly under the guidance of new manager Andrea Pirlo. They were given a huge break, however, by being awarded an academic 3-0 win over Napoli after the Partenopei were adjudged to have broken the COVID-19 protocol instituteed by the league. After a two-all draw with Roma, they're still seeking their first road win of the season, and despite the absence of key players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Weston McKennie, and Paulo Dybala, the Bianconeri should have no issues picking up three points from this one and moving on to prepare for their long trip to Ukraine to take on Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League next week.
Team news: Crotone vs Juventus
Crotone: The hosts will have to manage without injured quartet Denis Dragus, Koffi Djidji, Ahmad Benali, and Niccolò Zanellato.
Juventus: Arguably, the biggest absence for the visitors will be Cristiano Ronaldo, after the multi-Ballon d'Or winner recently tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, American signing Weston McKennie also recently tested positive, so he'll be unavailable for this match, and Paulo Dybala could be in doubt due to a stomach illness. Meanwhile, Alex Sandro, Aaron Ramsey, and Matthijs De Ligt are all still out with injuries.
