Man City suffer injury blow ahead of Arsenal clash

Manchester City risk losing Kevin de Bruyne to injury ahead of Arsenal clash

October 12, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Citizens could be without their star man when they welcome the Gunners to Etihad.

Manchester City are on the verge of suffering another injury blow ahead of their upcoming Premier League encounter with Arsenal. The Citizen's talisman Kevin de Bruyne could be ruled out of action for the foreseeable future after picking up an injury on international duty.

The 2019/2020 PFA Player of the Year was in excellent form for Belgium when they featured against England in Sunday's UEFA Nations League encounter. However, the 29-year-old could not last the full duration of the proceeding and was replaced in the 73rd minute after appearing to have picked up a knock. He was subsequently seen having an animated conversation with the Red Devils' head coach Roberto Martinez before taking a seat in the stands. The latter revealed in his post-match remarks that the decision to take off the midfielder was a precautionary measure.

Belgium are now set to conclude the international break with a trip to Iceland for another UEFA Nations League encounter. However, according to a statement issued on Monday, they will be without De Bruyne as the player has been allowed to travel back to Manchester City amid his injury concerns.

The Etihad outfit will host an in-form Arsenal team on October 17 and will be counting on all the availability of all their key players. Having already lost both Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero to injuries, De Bruyne's plight could invariable present a selection dilemma to Pep Guardiola who will be eyeing a first-ever win over his protege Mikel Arteta.
