France vs Portugal was one of the most anticipated games of the ongoing international break and for obvious reasons. Unfortunately, fans were not treated to the most exciting 90 minutes of football. However, lovers of the beautiful game did witness a heartwarming moment right before the second half kicked off and it came in the form of a lovely exchange between Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe.
The pair, two of the best attackers in world football, both featured in Sunday's game. The PSG ace and the Juventus superstar were able to exchange a few words right before the second half began and while it remains a mystery what was said, the camera caught the two goalscoring machines laughing and smiling throughout.
This moment is made all-the-more special by the fact that Mbappe's footballing idol is none other than the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. It is no secret that the Frenchman grew up admiring the former Man Utd and Real Madrid man, and having made it big, the 21-year-old has been able to share the pitch every now and then with his icon.

After the match, Kylian made sure to pay homage to the 35-year-old -- who is still-going-strong -- legend, posting pics of him with Ronaldo with the caption "Idol" alongside the crown and goat emojis. This gesture did not go unnoticed by the Portuguese ace who replied with a fist-bump emoji via an Instagram story in yet another sign of mutual respect.
Despite their immense talent, neither men were able to influence the game. The highly-anticipated encounter ended in a goalless stalemate. The 0-0 draw is more beneficial for Portugal as they came away from the World Cup champions with a point and remain top of their group due to their superior goal difference.
