USWNT stars headline FA WSL Matchday 4

Alex Morgan, Christen Press, Rose Lavelle, Sam Mewis and Tobin Heath headline FA Women’s Super League Matchday 4

October 8, 2020 By Juan Aguerrevere
U.S. Women’s National Team fans will have the luxury to see Alex Morgan and Tottenham Hotspur taking on Christen Press, Tobin Heath and Manchester United, and Rose Lavelle, Sam Mewis and Manchester City visiting reigning champions Chelsea through NBCSN this weekend.

NBC Sports coverage of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League will screen three live games on NBCSN, including Tottenham Hotspur hosting Manchester United and Manchester City visiting Chelsea. In other words, American soccer fans will be able to watch U.S. Women’s National Team stars Alex Morgan, Christen Press, Rose Lavelle, Sam Mewis and Tobin Heath in action on live TV this weekend.

The coverage will kick-off on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET when Morgan and the Spurs welcome Heath, Press and the Red Devils at The Hive Stadium in London.

Heath and Press made their FA WSL debuts in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. Heath played the full 90 minutes and supplied an assist to forward Jane Ross in added time. One the other hand, Press came into the game as a substitute in the 70th minute. The Red Devils are coming off a 3-1 loss on Wednesday to rivals Liverpool in the FA Women’s League Cup.

Morgan was left out of the squad that traveled to Manchester last weekend to face Man City as she is still building fitness after giving birth to her daughter in May. The Spurs lost that game 4-1 but bounced back on Wednesday with a 4-0 win over FA Championship side London City. Morgan said that that she is not ready for a full 90 minutes, yet, and if she does appear against Manchester City, it will be as a substitute, per ESPN’s Kathleen McNamee.

On Sunday, the FA WSL Pre Show starts at 7 a.m. ET on NBCSN ahead of the Arsenal’s visit to Brighton, which will be the second game available on NBCSN this weekend.

Following Arsenal’s game against Brighton, Lavelle, Mewis and Manchester City will take the pitch at Kingsmeadow to face reigning FA WSL champions, Chelsea. Mewis, who scored the game-winning goal against Arsenal last weekend to take Manchester City to the FA Women’s Cup final, made her FA WSL debut in the season-opener against Aston Villa. However, Rose, who scored the tying goal against Everton in an FA Women’s League Cup game on Wednesday, made her WSL debut as a substitute last weekend in a 4-1 win over the Spurs.

Also, Canadian international Jessie Fleming, who opted out of the 2020 NWSL College Draft to make her dream move to Chelsea, will be available for the Blues on Sunday.

Broadcast information for FA WSL games on Saturday, Oct. 10 and Sunday, Oct. 11
