France have made an excellent start to their 2020/2021 Nations League campaign, with two wins from their first two games. A 1-0 win over a stubborn Swedish side was followed up by a resounding 4-2 victory over Croatia in an entertaining match that was an exact replica of the 2018 World Cup final. Didier Deschamps's side will be facing Portugal next, who looks to be their toughest opponent as they've also picked up six points from their first two matches. With that in mind, and having seen several players, including Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba back in the fold, the hosts will likely look to get them involved for their upcoming warm-up tie against a team who don't boast the strongest record on the road.
As for Ukraine, they have seen their five friendlies so far this season either postponed or cancelled, including this one that's been now rescheduled against France. Andriy Shevchenko's side started off their Nations League tournament by recording a 2-1 win over Switzerland, but then suffered a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Spain.
With Germany - who are looking for their first Nations League win - coming up next, it goes without saying that they will face an uphill battle, especially as three of their shot-stoppers are now out due to COVID-19. To make matters worse, they also have a whole slew of players out injured ahead of this friendly, and many are not expected to have recovered in time for their big game against die Mannschaft just a few days later.
Ukraine also have a poor away record, with just two wins in their last eight on the road - and those were against even smaller minnows Luxembourg and and Lithuania. Coupled with their injury and illness crisis, it's really hard to see them getting anything out of this one.
France: Both Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba have returned to the squad after missing out on the team's recent win over Croatia.
Ukraine: Meanwhile, the visiting side will have to make do without Yevhen Konoplyanka, Vitaliy Buyalskyi, Denys Popov, Artem Shabanov, Mykyta Burda, Serhiy Bolbat, Serhiy Kryvtsov, and Oleksandr Zinchenko, all of whom are injured, while several players have been hit by COVID-19. They include goalkeepers Yuriy Pankiv, Andriy Lunin, and skipper Andriy Pyatov, as well as midfielder Taras Stepanenko. In addition, both Mykola Matviyenko and Viktor Kovalenko have recently withdrawn from the squad. Finally youngster Vladyslav Supriaha won't be able to make his first senior debut due to an injury.
