Preview: RB Leipzig vs PSG

One game. That's all that separate both RB Leipzig and PSG from featuring in their first ever Champions League final. For die Roten Bullen, who were only founded in 2009, this season really must feel like something out of a dream. Despite not being able to keep up with a rampant Bayern as they eventually ran away with the Bundesliga title, or make much inroads in the DFB-Pokal after impressing in the same tournament during the prior season, Leipzig have made amends for that in the Champions League.

After finishing top of their quartet, losing just once to Lyon - who also have had a fantastic run as they will face Bayern in the other semi-finals on Wednesday - Julian Naglesmann's side pulled off a fantastic performance against Tottenham in the round of 16 to dump last season's Champions League finalists out of the competition. And despite the Champions League then being delayed for a whopping five months due to the COVID-19 outbreak spreading to Germany, Leipzig nonetheless showed that they were more than ready for action as they put on a good show to overcome Diego Simeone's gritty Atletico side, with American international Tyler Adams's late goal being the deciding factor.

Now they will take on French giants PSG - a team as equally as determined to get to that final as they are. For Les Parisiens, the Champions League has proved to be their Kryptonite ever since they returned to the European scene several seasons ago after a change in ownership. Domestic success certainly has not eluded them. Save for Monaco's triumph in 2017, PSG have won all the Ligue 1 titles since Qatar Sports Investments took over, and this season have now completed their fourth domestic quadruple by winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de la Ligue, the Trophee des Champions, and the Coupe de France.

However, the one trophy that continued to elude them is the Champions League. Up until now, PSG have never featured in a European semi-final, with their last appearance at this juncture taking place during the 1994/1995 season. It goes to show that it's been a long time going: and having earned their spot thanks to a well-deserved 2-1 win over determined debutants Atalanta, Thomas Tuchel's side will not want to let the opportunity to feature in the club's first ever European final to pass them by.

However, neither will Lepizig. They may be the youngest club in town, but clearly, that has not bothered them one bit. Since arriving on the top flight scene following their promotion in 2016, die Roten Bullen have never shown signs of being intimidated by more experienced clubs. That certainly will not start as they prepare to lock horns with PSG on Tuesday, either, as Naglesmann will be quite familiar with Tuchel from his time in the Bundesliga (the two worked together at Augsburg).

Team news: RB Leipzig vs PSG

Leipzig: Ibrahima Konaté will miss out for Naglesmann's side due to a hip injury.

PSG: Major concern for Tuchel as first-choice shot-stopper Keylor Navas is out due to a thigh problem. That means that back-up option Sergio Rico will agaain deputize in between the posts - however, he's a veteran of European competition, having won two Europa League titles with Sevilla. Furthermore, he featured during the team's 2-1 win over Atalanta after Navas hobbled off injured and successfully held down the fort, which allowed his team to secure the two crucial goals they needed in order to dispatch La Dea and earn their ticket to the semi's.

Elsewhere, Idrisaa Gueye, Marco Verratti, and Layvin Kurzawaare all doubts due to muscular, calf, and thigh issues despectively.
