The Red Devils are eager to lure him to Old Trafford but might find it more difficult now.

It’s no secret that priority no.1 for Man United for the summer transfer window is Jadon Sancho. The Red Devils have long been admirers of the Dortmund ace and look to bring him to Old Trafford in time for next season. Unfortunately, the English giants have hit a huge stumbling block.

According to the Daily Mail, Solskjaer’s side have missed the deadline to sign the Bundesliga sensation. BVB informed the Premier League heavyweights that a deal should be completed ideally by August 10, which the Red Devils have failed to do. The club embarked on their pre-season training camp on Monday morning, hence the deadline for this transfer as Dortmund wants clarity regarding his future.

Sancho was thus forced to report for duty, boarding a plan to Switzerland alongside the other players. The British tabloid claims that the Englishman’s employers are now ready to pull the plug on this deal. Despite this, Man United chief Ed Woodward does not see this as detrimental to their pursuit.

One key issue is Dortmund’s valuation. While the club have been open to the sale of Sancho, Dortmund have shown no willingness towards dropping the asking price. With two more years remaining on his Signal Iduna Park deal, BVB feel comfortable demanding $141M for the Englishman despite Man United’s attempt to negotiate a discount in the midst of the coronavirus-induced recession.

Jadon’s employers do not want to see this transfer stalled and are attempting to make his stay in Germany with a bumper new deal that would see him pocket nearly $250K per week. It remains unclear whether the Red Devils will back out of the deal should Dortmund refuse to lower the asking price.
