The Reds matched the feat of the former title holders by condemning Newcastle to defeat at the St James' Stadium.

Liverpool ended their domineering Premier League campaign this season by equaling yet another record held by former champions Manchester City. The Reds sealed a 3-1 away victory over Newcastle to take their total number of wins to 32 after 38 outings.

After conceding Dwight Gayle's opener for the Magpies after just 25 seconds - the fastest goal ever scored on the final day of a Premier League season - Klopp's men were pulled back into the game by Virgil Van Dijk. The Dutchman guided an Oxlade-Chamberlin's cross from the right with his head past Martin Dubravka for his fifth Premier League goal of the campaign – more than any other defender in the competition this season.

The defender, with his inclusion in the final game, became the fifth outfield player in the history of Liverpool to feature in every single minute in a season for two successive seasons.

In the second half, Divock Origi smashed home from long range to put Liverpool in the lead before Sadio Mane wrapped up affairs with a fine finish. The scoreline took the Reds win tally for the season to 32, making them only the second club in the history of the Premier League to manage that haul after Manchester City. The Citizens achieved the feat in both the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons.
