PSG are worried over the fitness of their talisman attacker, with the return of the UEFA Champions League being just over a fortnight away.

PSG might have won the Coupe de France title on Friday, beating St Etienne 1-0 in the final to clinch the league and cup double, but that game unfortunately came at a cost. The showdown saw top scorer Kylian Mbappe pick up a nasty injury which has now put his Champions League availability under severe doubt.

The Frenchman was the victim of a vicious tackle from Loic Perrin which left the 21-year-old in tears and tremendous pain. Having been caught in the ankle, the 2018 World Cup winner was forced off the pitch before returning to the bench in crutches. A brawl immediately followed the horrific incident, with the culprit Perrin being sent off.

PSG fans understandably became worried about the fitness of their influential attacker given that the Coupe de la Ligue final is less than a week away and the 1st leg of their Champions League quarter-final showdown vs Atalanta is just over a fortnight away. The Sun has offered an update regarding the former Monaco sensation which will only add to the fear.

As per the British tabloid, Mbappe was heard speaking to French president Emmanuel Macron, who was in attendance in Friday's final, telling the commander-in-chief that "It [his ankle] cracked a bit." When asked if his ankle was broken, Kylian reportedly said: "It's broken, you think? No I don't think so."

The striker is said to have undergone scans that same day. Les Parisiens are worried their talisman forward suffered ligament damage which would end his season. Of course, all of the aforementioned claims are unconfirmed and thus must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Fans now await official confirmation from PSG regarding the injury to Mbappe. Both the club and the supporters will be praying he is fit for the UEFA Champions League as the French giants aim to end their wait for European glory.
