Preview: Sassuolo vs Milan
Milan come into this game with four wins in their last five games and presently sit in seventh spot on 56 points. Since losing in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, Stefano Pioli's side have been in excellent form as they now know that the only way they can qualify for a spot in the Europa League is a strong finish in Serie A. Along the way, they've beaten Roma, Lazio, and most impressive, fought from a 2-0 deficit to pick up a 4-2 win over Juventus, thus ending a long-standing frustrating hoodoo against La Vecchia Signora. The only blip along this fantastic run was a 2-2 draw with relegation candidates SPAL, but other from that, the Rossoneri have been largely unstoppable, and they will head to Sassuolo's home ground having crushed Bologna 5-1 in their most recent match.
However, Sassuolo, as always, will present a tricky foe. The Neroverdi have no shot of qualifying for European football, but that doesn't mean they won't want to spoil Milan's ambitions, either. They're in no danger of relegation, and are quite content with sitting comfortably in the top half of the table to just ride out the rest of the season while picking up points against the bigger sides. Roberto De Zerbi's side have already nicked a point against Juventus - in a game that they nearly actually won - and have beaten Lazio since the league restarted. They also again proved to be a nuisance again for Inter by holding the Nerazzurri to a three-three stalemate at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and certainly will want to cause Milan problems once again.
Rossoneri fans will not remember too fondly that fateful day in January 2014 that a 19-year-old Domenico Berardi scored a poker against their team in a 4-3 win for Sassuolo, thus effectively sealing Massimiliano Allegri's fate as he was sacked shortly after. Of course, that was six years ago, and since then, Milan have won four of their last six trips to Sassuolo's home ground, but still, they will not be taking the Neroverdi lightly - as they have gone eight games sans defeat since the league started. Their only loss? To Atalanta - and everyone has had trouble lately with the outfit from Bergamo.
