Preview: Juventus vs Lazio

The hosts come into this game winless in their last three games. That includes a loss to AC Milan, during which Maurizio Sarri's side actually threw away a two goal advantage to end up losing 4-2 to the Rossoneri, which gave current Diavolo boss Stefano Pioli his first ever win over La Vecchia Signora and ended a long-standing unbeaten run for Juventus against Milan. After that, Juventus ended up drawing with Atalanta - which, perhaps, given La Dea's strong form as of late, is hardly surprising. But then, they followed that up with barely hanging on for a point against Sassuolo.

Everyone knows that Sassuolo have proven to be an annoying thorn in the side of all of Serie A's big teams since bursting onto the scene in 2013, but it was hardly the result that Sarri wanted after two negative results from their last two games. Furthermore, Juventus had gone 2-0 up, and the expectation was that the Bianconeri should have been able to put that game to bed quickly. Unfortunately, they were not, and nearly ended up losing that game were it not for an equalizer from Alex Sandro, and even after that, Sassuolo refused to go away without a fight, leaving Juventus barely escaping with a point.

Next up for Juventus will be Lazio. A few weeks ago, this game would have been a top of the table clash and a Scudetto decider. Not so much at this point in time. The Aquile now have lost the plot in recent weeks, and that started with a heavy 3-0 loss to a recently resurgent AC Milan. Since then, they've picked up just one point from their last four games, causing them to slip eight points behind Juventus and pretty much end their Scudetto ambitions at a very crucial point in time. They come into this game having failed to score in a drab scoreless stalemate against Udinese, so clearly morale in Simone Inzaghi's camp is at its lowest at the moment.

Although Inter were unable to fully take advantage of Juve's poor form and close the gap to three points, the Nerazzurri did earn a draw against Roma, thus slightly narrowing it to five points and that does apply some degree of pressure on Sarri ahead of this match - especially with four games to go between now and the end of the season. It goes without saying that the Bianconeri will be really hoping to get back to winning ways in this upcoming match in order to keep the Nerazzurri from getting any ideas that they could potentially force their way back into the Scudetto race at the 11th hour.
