Man City eyeing five signings this summer after getting UCL ban overturned

July 14, 2020 By Ali M.
With European football now confirmed for next season, the Citizens are ready to rebuild their squad

Man City received terrific news on Monday as the CAS revealed their verdict regarding the club's UEFA Champions League ban, accepting the Citizens' appeal and thus overturning the sanction. With the Premier League giants now clear to participate in Europe, Guardiola and Co. are planning for a summer spending spree with the sole aim of rebuilding the squad.

According to the Telegraph, the Citizens could make as many as five additions to their squad once the transfer window reopens. One business Man City are keen on completing is the replacement of Leroy Sane. The German agreed a deal with Bayern Munich and has already left the Etihad Stadium, leaving Pep one man short on the wings. One man who could end up replacing him is Valencia's Ferran Torres.

Another priority is the acquisition of a center-back. The departure of club legend Vincent Kompany was not addressed last summer, with the ramifications visible for all the see this season. A few names are being linked with the club, with the most high-profile one being Kalidou Koulibaly. The Napoli center-back is one of the most sought-after defender's in world football and could cost a whopping $88M but Man City are exploring other options in case plan A fails, with Bournemouth's Nathan Ake, Leicester's Caglar Soyuncu, Inter's Milan Skriniar, and Dortmund's Dan-Axel Zagadou also on their radar.

Midfield reinforcements are also being targeted, with Aston Villa's Jack Grealish and Atletico's Saul being on their list. Surprisingly, the Citizens are said to be on the lookout for a left-back and a striker. Ben Chilwell is under consideration but it should be noted that he is also being targeted by Chelsea. As for an attacker, no candidates have been mentioned but this depends on who leaves this summer.
