The final for the Coupe de France has been revealed. The French Football Federation made this announcement on Friday, stating that the ultimate showdown between PSG and St Étienne will take place on July 24.
The 2019/20 final will see the Ligue 1 champions take on Claude Puel's side, with that fixture set to be held in the famous Stade de France. On top of that, this match, unlike all of Europe's major leagues, will not be played behind closed doors. Noël Le Graët, the president of FFF, revealed that a minimum of 5,000 fans will be permitted to attend this game.
The goal is to play in front of 25,000 supporters; however, this is currently prohibited as per French regulations. Le Graët and Co. hope restrictions will be eased in time for next month's Coupe de France final, which will be the very-first football match staged in France since professional sports were suspended in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
And it does stop there as PSG vs St Etienne will be followed by the Coupe de la Ligue final a week later. Les Parisiens are involved in this League Cup tie, taking on Lyon on July 31 in the ultimate game in their quest of yet another domestic treble.
Mbappe and Co. were crowned the Ligue 1 champions after the French top-flight was forced to cancel their season prematurely after the government decision to extend the ban on football back in late April. The beautiful game will be making its return in July, all but proving the LFP were too hasty to bring down the curtains on the 2019/20 campaign.
