Preview: Bologna vs Juventus
Juventus will be hoping to get back on track after a very disappointing showing in the Coppa Italia final, a match the Bianconeri were heavily slated to win. Maurizio Sarri was unable to lead his new team past his old squad Napoli as the match ended up going to penalties, and now he will have to at least ensure that La Vecchia Signora can successfully retain their Scudetto title this campaign. With Lazio in aggressive pursuit, Juventus will seek to pick up all three points against their upcoming opponents Bologna, who have failed to win their last three games and are mired in the middle of the table.
Inter won their make-up game against Sampdoria over the weekend and now have closed the gap on Juventus to six points. Although the Nerazzurri appear to be pretty much of the two-horse title race, things could technically change quickly if Sarri's side don't wake up from their sluggish state quickly. Juventus have not really looked like themselves since returning to action following the three-month pause due to COVID-19 abruptly interrupting proceedings.
As for Bologna, they'll obviously be hoping to kick off their return to action with a win, but it's been a long time since they beat Juventus on home turf. In fact, one will have to go back to November 29, 1998 to note the last time the Rossoblu were successful in overcoming La Vecchia Signora at home, and recent meetings between the two teams have been all one way traffic, with Bologna losing their last eight clashes across all competitions.
