Fans of the Red Devils have responded to rumors of their club eyeing a move for the Rojiblancos' attacker.

Manchester United fans have expressed mixed feelings over rumors of their club showing interest in Atletico Madrid's Thomas Lemar. A report by ESPN on Friday suggested that the Red Devils had initiated contact with the representatives of the French winger as part of their recruitment plans ahead of the summer.

With football currently on a stand-still across all the European league centers, United is hoping to make the best out of the situation by putting together a list of prospective targets. In that, French winger Thomas Lemar has been identified as one of such with the player's entourage and the Old Trafford outfit already meeting to discuss the possibility of his transfer.

Following his 70-million-euro transfer from AS Monaco to Atletico Madrid in 2018, the 24-year-old winger has failed to replicate his old form that helped fire Les Rouges et Blancs to the Ligue 1 title and the the UEFA Champions League semi-final in the 2016/2017 season. As a result, he has become surplus to requirement in Diego Simeone's side and has only managed three goals and six assists since arrival in Spain. This season, he has made 24 appearances and has failed to score on any of those occasions.

During the winter transfer window, Simeone expressed his dissatisfaction with the Lemar's input since arriving, sparking speculations of the his imminent sale. As per ESPN's report, the player is also looking to secure a move away this summer and a transfer to Manchester United could truly be on the cards.

Nevertheless, some fans of the 13-time Premier League winners have questioned the club's ambition in their pursuit of the Colchoneros flop and are convinced that his teammate Thomas Partey would rather be the ideal signing. The Ghanaian international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent times and many suggest that his combative nature is exactly what the English club lacks in its midfield.
